"Data and metadata were scattered everywhere - in Excel spreadsheets, on pieces of paper, in inappropriate databases. Standard solutions were expensive and inflexible. We therefore developed customised software specifically for zebrafish embryo toxicity tests that stores data centrally and systematically: INTOB”
Quote from a UFZ employee involved in the development of INTOB
Record your data directly during the experiment - without any paper or Excel.
Find all your colleagues' experiments, data and results at the touch of a button.
Your data will be stored according to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). This ensures that your research is not only efficient, but also future-proof, traceable and usable by other scientists.
Easily extract metadata and effect data in a variety of formats. Whether you want to load the data into analysis tools such as R or Python, or use it directly for visualisation, “INTOB" makes evaluation easy and flexible.
With regular observations, “INTOB” UFZ can save up to 2 hours per day per experiment documentation compared to a manual survey. With more than 150 experiments per year, the UFZ saves around 165 man-days per year with about 20 scientists using “INTOB”, which corresponds to a 75% FTE. This significantly speeds up data collection and analysis for all relevant studies and publications at the UFZ, freeing up valuable time for research and analysis.
INTOB is based on the OECD 236 guidelines, standardises metadata and combines historical and new data in a uniform knowledge repository. We are sure that this solution has not only revolutionised our research but will also inspire the zebrafish embryo community.
